What’s the weather like in Playa Hermosa?
Playa Hermosa has warm tropical weather year-round, with two distinct seasons:
Dry Season (December - April): Expect sunny skies, low humidity, and very little rain. Daytime temperatures average around 88–95°F (31–35°C), with cooler evenings in the mid-70s (24°C).
Rainy Season (May - November): You’ll still get plenty of sunshine, but with short, tropical showers, usually in the afternoon or evening. What is Playa Hermosa known for?
Playa Hermosa is located in Guanacaste (not to be confused with Playa Hermosa near Jacó!) and is a small beach community of a few hundred homes, quieter and less developed than nearby Playas del Coco or Tamarindo. It’s known for its tranquility, and is perfect for travelers who want peace without total isolation.
The beach is wide and is situated in a cove and takes about 30 minutes to walk end on soft grey sand. It’s known for its swimmability, calm waves, and dramatic, colorful sunsets—perfect for evening strolls and beachfront dining. It’s surrounded by hills and forest, and is a base for wildlife watching, boat tours, and day trips to National Parks like Rincon de la Vieja.
Just offshore and in nearby areas (like Playa Ocotal), there are top-rated diving and snorkeling spots with rich marine life.
